    It's a threat to deprive union members of a fair vote.  If people who don't show up count as votes in the negative, then what's to keep people from being intimidated from going to work?

    Besides, these threats from members of Congress to penalize workers or companies that honor union workers are nothing other than extortion.  Extortion doesn't necessarily imply a bribe.  Unwarranted penalties can also be used to extort compliance.  Making people choose the lesser of two evils is not the kind of choice we want to support.
