SS taxes are regressive, and they have a cap (roughly $13,000). For the wealthy, that's the good kind of tax. Simpson has no problem with the fact that we pay SS taxes, he has a problem with the fact that we get the benefits. He wants us paying the taxes, so long as he is not paying more than us, and our share goes into his private sector ventures. If SS is privatized, the corporate world would want to keep the SS tax, then privatize the revenue. They would also want to increase the percentage paid, but keep the cap the same.

...I want him to keep his goddamned hands off of Social Security, or drop dead!

And I'm not even eligible for Social Security. And I don't buy any of that crap that Wall Street can invest Social Security funds better than the US Government. If you support Simpson and his crap, you are a fool, a troll, or both.

In my experiences, I have found that privatization fans are easily discouraged when I point out the fact that there is no reason to assume privatization will result in lower taxes. In other words, the discussion of "your money goes to Wall Street" does not bother the tea-partiers as much as "you will still be paying the taxes." ... in my few experiences, at least. (but that includes two rabid Limbaugh fans)
