    that I have to thank DK4 just for putting me in the group, and you, miep, for expressing your loss so eloquently. I have moved north from the Bay Area, now live alone practically for the first time in my life, and I'm missing the mourning doves, who lived near me in Rohnert Park and Santa Rosa. Too damp and cold for them here, I guess, or you are right, they are going extinct. This morning when I went out to feed the birds, I was welcomed by a song sparrow and chided by a Steller's Jay, but no doves, no coos, and only the one fool. I get my doves from the internet now, and I won't even talk about getting laid:-).
