    Last week, when I was part of the Madison recall roadtrip to Green Bay to get petition signatures for recalling Cowles, the local Democratic party office for Brown County had a guy saying he was part of the defense against recall for Hansen who claimed the Republicans were paying out-of-state petitioners to canvass and being fast and loose with the residency requirements.  (You have to be an eligible voter in the district to SIGN the petition, but you only have to be an eligible voter somewhere in the whole state to WITNESS the petition - a requirement for being a petition canvasser - and the claim was that the republicans were paying people's rent to come in and live in an apartment in the area for 10 days - the minimum requirement for being an eligible voter.)

    I have no idea if this was true.
