    I guess my point was that politicians are trying to make education policy based on the experience of the select (I guess I'm on too...I had IB), instead of on the experience and needs of the typical student.

    Sidwell, or a selective private school can't be used as a policy basis for a public school that serves a hugely diverse set of students with vastly different needs. Public schools have a far more challenging job (and more rewarding too, IMHO).

      which is sort of the problem overall, because "they" are attempting to reform education using a "one-size-fits-all" policy rather than differentiating reform based on school needs. As a teacher, I differentiate for the needs of my students all the time. in theory, they should be able to differentiate reforms for different schools.
