    they have the answers that they denigrate others who disagree, and that attitude inspires others to respond in kind.   There is no one "progressive vision", so there will be disagreement.  It's always going to be "mob rule" to some degree.

      We need to think about this, so that we have a common, basic bond, or we will not grow to matter enough to see any of those visions realized.

      This is a quote that talks about religious fundamentalism. "The ultimate temptation of the believer is to assume that his or her way to God is the best or only way for others.  The particular way to God becomes what is adored, not the ineffable and incomprehensible Mystery to which we give the name of God"  Paschal Baute (1993)  So if we took this thought into the realm of political fundamentalism it might apply as well.  Maybe there are overarching goals that we can all share and many roads to them and achieving those goals is where we can place our true passion.
