How many people have read the Churchill essay in its entirety, and how many people are reacting to the bits and pieces that have been pulled out and waved in front of us?

I'm asking because I haven't read the essay. Therefore, I don't feel qualified to comment on the content.

If someone could recapitulate his entire argument, and not just the part where he uttered the "little Eichmanns" phrase, I'd be deeply appreciative. Or can point me to the essay in its entirey on-line.

    Thank you.

    •  Not the essay, but Churchill's... (none)

the thesis that we as a nation deserved 9/11 is certainly open for conjecture, given the complicity we have had in things like SAVAK in Iran, selling intel and weapon components so Saddam could gas Iranian's and Kurds, propping up the corrupt house of Saud, etc. etc.

We as a nation are far form innocent and 9/11 is no more atrocious (though much more spectacular) than what we have committed or allied ourselves to for decades.

Does not make 9/11 "justified", but then nether is our collective behavior in the world for decades.

I reserve "judgment" on Churchill's essay until I can read it all and in context myself.

      cheers,

      Mitch Gore

    •  I read most of it. (none)
And I heard him speak.  His message was (in simple terms) is that our foreign policy has been a nightmare, and its caused atrocities. He uses Iraq as an example of needless death and destruction.  His message was that we may deserve what we got and that pissed a whole bunch of people off.  Did we deserve 911 ?  I think our good things have outweighed the bad things so no, I dont think anyone deserves to die like that, including Iraqis etc.

I think you can link up to his FSTV interview on their home page where he explains his views:
