  •  I think OUR best (none)
I think it would be in OUR best interest to care less about what these idiots on the Reicht say and put more stock in what were saying and who WE are.

We should work on our unity and worry less about things we cant control, like ignert wingnutz.

    •  totally agree (none)
Its just not news that an internet site is wrong, especially a right wing one. The people to concentrate on are broadcasters and publishers. Somehow we are gonna have to figure out how to reach the American people, and here is a hint, you aint gonna reach the masses through the internet.

the kind of people who follow political blogs are partisans.

      •  So (none)
if that's true, why would you care what I write here?  Do you really believe that?

        •  Good Question (none)
I am not sure. It may just be a personality flaw of mine; an inability to keep my mouth shut if I disagree.

Do I really believe that the internet is not the way to reach the masses? yes. Most Americans dont follow politics. They follow American Idol and watch the local news(murder, weather, sports). Most people get their political news from spillover news(my own term for lack of a better one); they hear the jokes on late night shows, or on morning radio as they drive to work. Scandals and controversies have to get a critical mass before they reach the average person.

I do think that ideas need to be developed and debated; this is as good a place as any. Also the Democratic Party needs to be more than raising money and "sending messages". I figure eventually someone will start an organization with a local chapter in San Francisco which needs bodies, and not just checkbooks, and hopefully this will involve booze and cigarettes(ok now I am dreaming), and I can go after work or on weekends and help out.

anyways good questions, not sure I know the answers

Well duh, of course we don't reach the masses.

As for the rest of your post, it meanders a fair bit so I'm not sure what to say in response.

    •  I disagree (none)
You must fight the false labels that the Right Wing attempts to attach to us.  Your strategy, IMO, is a proven loser.

      •  Fight on and keep fighting (none)
I just dont know if instapundit is a high priority. Or if counterblogging is a much of a strategy. It seems more like The Daily Outrage; some conservative somewhere(a chairman of the NY Republican Party, a blogger, a commentater on Fox) says something bad about Democrats or liberals, and we are supposed to get all worked up over something that happens , not daily, but hourly?

We do have to find a way to keep from being framed. We spent a whole newscycle defending our love of Christmas. But I am not shocked or outraged by what instapundit says.  or even concerned. There are bigger fish to fry.

        •  I really disagree (none)
Delegitimizing the Right Wing hate blogs keeps the Media from relying on them as real sources of news.

I think it is terribly important to do this.

          •  well, every one must pick their own battles (none)
I myself worry about FoxNews and the Washington Times more. I am kind of sad because I am starting to wonder if it is ethical to watch the Simpons or Arrested Development. Fortunately my tv broke and I havent replaced it yet. Its a good question. Is it ethical to watch Fox?

anyways, I dont know if the media relies on the internet as anything but a fig leaf. It seems that stories from the internet tend to be things that people in the media already know(rumours, gossip) but cant touch unless they can report on it as a story about gossip and rumours.
