    Europeans on average retire earlier and with 70-80% of their last salary. Americans get a measly 40%.

    Europe is a large part of a continent and conditions vary from place to place. England is currently working to bring their pensions more in line with America's, though other countries seem not to be.
    In my opinion, it pays the Brits to discourage immigration and encourage emigration, as a lot of their infrastructure is severely outdated and can't carry the population load. Richard Attenborough made a comment that there were three times as many people living on the island as there were when he was growing up 70 years ago. Seems about right.
