Obama has the bully pulpit. He'll be able to command the spin.  Obama has skillfully painted himself as the only adult in the room.  When the reality of this sinks in, people will blame the GOP.  This is a stupid mistake they're making.

    •  No.. the poll clearly show pure partisan blaming. (3+ / 0-)

Repubs blame Dems, and Dems blame Repubs... and those numbers haven't changed in 5 weeks - and they won't.

I blame Pelosi and Reid for not passing any budget at all because they were too afraid to do so before the elctions.

before it actually happens and the spin takes over. Independents will blame the GOP.

        •  Disagree.. but we'll have to wait (0+ / 0-)

and see how it breaks if there is a shutdown.

I think they will end up doing another CR. (with the GOP probably getting another 5-6 Billion in concessions for 2 weeks)

The GOP is going to try to get the military funded for the rest of the year at the same time.  If the Dems let that happen, the GOP has the upper hand the next round.

    •  Actually whoever yells the loudest (0+ / 0-)

tends to win this sort of test. We'll see. My own guess is that the Dems will cave--key in this is what Wall Street (watch Shumer very, very closely) wants--they're the ones that will ultimately decide. Money talks, bullshit walks.
