If there are other, "actual" reasons, he's kept them quiet.

under Reagan then I don't know what, then the Senate.
Seems he put in his time as a public servant.
Maybe he dislikes all the fundraising. Maybe he wants to cash in with a cushy lobbying job. I don't know either.

      •  He must be older than he looks. (0+ / 0-)

I mean, to date back to Reagan.

Ideology is an excuse to ignore common sense.

      •  But under Reagan he was still Military. (0+ / 0-)

Yes, he was an administrator, but he wasn't REALLY a civilian. It probably didn't seem like a purely political position.

      •  daliscar - Webb won't be a lobbyist (0+ / 0-)

Webb is a very accomplished author. My guess is that he will return to writing books.  Webb is a Naval Academy graduate who served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War where he was a highly decorated infantry platoon leader. He earned the Navy Cross (second only to the Medal of Honor) and twice was awarded the Silver Star. After the Marines he graduated from law school at Georgetown, was a Congressional staffer, and then served four years in the Reagan administration, the last year as Secretary of the Navy. He published his first book while in law school and has had several best sellers.
