But being on the Beltway up near Silver Spring with some (not all) Maryland drivers 1/2 car length from your bumper and pissed cuz you're not doing 80+ is ridiculous.

I know I'm a bit paranoid though as I was thrown allover a brand new 73 Pontiac Catalina when I was barely 9 yo  when a Md driver smashed into my grandmother (who was also speeding I'm sure). The driver was paced at doing 75 by a state trooper on the Suitland Parkway which was a 45mph road then. The trooper was getting ready to pull over the driver for speeding when he slammed into my grandmother. This was of course before there were seat belts laws and rules for kids under 4'10 being in the backseat.

Thank God for that Detroit steel or my grandmother and I likely would have been a goner. The Trooper said he was amazed we survived it much less walked away from it with minor scratches.

But still they've got nothing on the drivers on I-95 aka "Testosterone Alley" between Lorton and Richmond.

I enjoy sporty cars (though not sports cars) and I am continually amazed at how many people try to goad me into racing them. I tend to make minor cosmetic mods to my cars (nothing grandiose, just enough that you can tell you're looking at something that isn't stock) and the teenagers just lose it.

I think Rt 7100, Rt 110 (before 9/11 happened) and I-395 inside the beltway are all racetracks.
