The FC News Press reported the Idylwood Bridge is done 17 months ahead of schedule. The hubby and I just went over it on Saturday when coming back from Merrifield Garden Nursery.

And I know about those windshield vs. rocks myself. My Toy 4Runner has caught 3 rocks in the last 2 years. I've got a bullseye on my passenger side right now because I haven't had tome to take is anywhere.

With any luck though that Silver metro line will make a difference. We're 6 blocks from the Orange line off Westmoreland and the increasing noise is making me feel like we live 10 feet from the Chicago L. They've been blowing their horns in the middle of the freakin' night. I called the WMATC and they said the noise was a result of all the construction and that they had to blow a warning to let the night workers know they were coming. I hope this is true because I've stayed in the "quiet" suburbs for a reason.

Tim Kaine deserves credit for getting this done ahead of schedule! Now he's definitely got my vote!

Nice houses back there. The wife works in Tyson's and we'd love to be able to afford the mortgages back there.

I think home prices in that part of Fairfax County are down about 15% or so.

I've been in Falls Church for about 13 years now. I would never give up my inside the beltway location, given the traffic and the conveniences that are almost walking distance, especially after paying $4.10 a gallon this morning to fill up my car.

off Westmoreland Street on the Falls Church/ McLean border but Idylwood is a nice back road with less traffic if you need to get to Merrifield.

Keep an eye on the housing prices. There is a gluttony on houses that have gone up for sale in Falls Church and in the Tyson's Area.

I swear one of these days we Northern VA Dems have got to have a meet up. There's a bunch of us and we barely know each other. We could be a force to be reckoned with.

At the moment I live over sorta where Springfield smushes into the Landmark section of Alexandria.

Drinking Liberally Alexandria used to meet (long) walking distance from my house....but that chapter fell apart, probably because people like me wouldn't get off their arses. :-(

I was gone all of last week, so I didn't hear about the bridge reopening. I'm shocked that it gone done so quickly. Can you imagine living in that neighborhood and going all the way around through Tysons to get to Dun Loring? OH LAWD.

And, you're right about the noise. Sometimes, when I'm laying in bed at night trying to get to sleep, I can hear the pile drivers. Its the equivalent of listening to a dripping faucet.
