    and I read everything!

    Laura Ingalls Wilder
    Tom Sawyer
    Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys/anything mystery
    Bobbsey Twins

    Transition to
    Zane Grey
    Thomas Chastain
    Historical Romances

When the librarian wouldn't let me check out Tom Jones, I ordered it, then had to force myself through it because I'd gone to such trouble!

Nowadays, I still read young adult fiction - Gary Paulson, the MockingJay series, etc.  Great stories!

all the other Alcott books!  I still cry when I read Little Women.  Love that book.

Laura Ingalls Wilder and Alcott were both favorites of mine growing up. Gary Paulson is excellent. I need to read the MockingJay series and the Hunger Games.

I enjoyed the librarian and Tom Jones story. I'm trying to remember my first "forbidden" but talked about book. I remember A Tree Grows in Brooklyn was a bit scandalous when first published. But I don't remember thinking anything was shocking when I read it as a young teenager.
