  •  i can't believe (none)
that Rep. Gibbons hates Democracy, Liberty and Freedom so much. I'll be cancelling my trip to Sin City.
    •  Before you do that... (none)
Please know that Gibbons' District (2) does not comprise Las Vegas. Its the northern, rural part of the state. Gibbon's wouldn't get elected in Sin City. The rural ranchers love him though.

      •  his district inquiry (2.50)
Does his district include Lake Tahoe and South Tahoe Village?

Just wondering as we frequent that area.

doesn't really attract me at all. Just makes decent hyperbole. I actually like the Elko area - stark and beautiful.

You actually used the word "comprise" correctly.  I salute you, sir or madam.

Here's an e-mail just sent to the demagogue who claims to represent District 2, a copy of which just went to our country Democratic Party HQ:

"Please tell me you didn't say this! "I say we tell those liberal, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, hippie, tie-dyed liberals to go make their movies and their music and whine somewhere else," Gibbons said to another burst of applause." --Elko Daily Free Press.
Whether you choose to acknowledge this or not, there are some constituents in your district who believe that name-calling is a despicable debating technique. If it is any comfort to you, I don't think calling Right Wing radicals "Nazis" is appropriate either.

If you meant that statement in jest, I'd respectfully suggest you re-examine your sense of humor; and, if you were serious, I'd recommend a bit of soul searching about the example your comment set for the tone of public discourse in this country.
I'd prefer a representative to set a professional tone in a public forum, comments like the one quoted above are more appropriate to a back-room gaggle of political operatives. Back room comments should be kept in the back room.
If you don't feel you need to apologize for this comment then, please at the very least offer a statement for the young people in our district that name-calling isn't appropriate on playgrounds, and is less appropriate in a public political event. Thank you for your attention to this note."

If you'd like to add a comment or two for Rep. Gibbons his DC phone number is 202-225-6155.

Have you asked your Senator about Halliburton today?
