  •  Approach (4.00)
For the record, feel free to debate with my approach all you like. Yeah, I'm gonna fight down in the trenches 'cause that's where the battle is. Any argument that advocates a more high-minded approach probably won't sway me, but that shouldn't deter you from making it. I'm just one guy, after all, who happens to have been lucky enough to have the chance to post on the front page here.

And just one final thought on the Gibbons stuff: I'm not usually very good at doing humor and ridicule (though I do think I can usually pick out good humor/ridicule from the bad). As such, I decided to go with the very simple, bash-`em-over-the-head-with-their-own-words approach and leave the clever mockery to my fellow Kossacks.

    •  What humor was there? (4.00)
It was basically a "kill the liberals" statement.

On the arguing, if you aren't gonna be swayed, and I'm not, and Hunter is not, and kos is not, what's the point.

I'm for debate, but debate a closed question? That seems a distracting waste to me.

but Democrats are ALWAYS best when they fight each other.

Hones the skillset as it were......

Like  a Boston Bar brawl between friends...That's one thing...

But a stranger should NEVER try to cut in...he'ld get his ass handed to him, by BOTH of them.

      •  Our end (none)
I meant humor on our end. I often think ridicule is a great approach to humiliating your opponents. It's just not my strong suit. Of course there was no humor in the violent trash that spewed out of Gibbons' mouth.

As for arguing - on the overall, most basic level of how to fight, yes, the lines are pretty clearly drawn. But there's a lot of nuance in between, no? How far into the trenches do we go, when is it too far, is statement X over the top of us, etc. Issue-by-issue, these kinds of questions come up. And in that ragrd, I think continued discussion is helpful.

But yes, asking me (or you) to play by Marquess of Queensbury rules is an exercise in futility.

        •  I agree (none)
          Maybe it's a NY thing.

The republican extremist have set themselves up so well for redicule.

Someone like Coulter loves to fight and doesn't care if she wins or not, she spins to look like she wins.

However, I doubt she would stand up to well to well aimed redicule.
