    You're an American, you act like one and step up, making sacrifices as needed to keep this country great. Too many have sacrificed their lives, or their spouse's, their children or parents... it's a crying shame that the rest of us aren't asked to sacrifice a little from our wallets.

    Someone mentioned WWII... the country sacrificed for WWII. People grew their own food so the troops would have more (victory gardens). People send scrap, nylon, you name it to the war effort. The nation acted as a nation. Now we act like a bunch of spoiled whining kids afraid to share their last popsicle.

    Exceptions my ass. It's time for the country to grow the fuck up and act like adults.

      is one that has been declared by Congress.

      That would leave out everything since WWII I think.

      Frankly, I blame everything on Nixon.

      Including paying top marginal income tax rates of 94% in 1944 & 1945 and up to 88% earlier in the war.
