Grains, legumes, and diary pose a lot of hidden problems for many people because they contain proteins that mimic proteins in the body, so they create allergies and autoimmune problems.

Once I gave up grains, I realized that my gas, bloating, and diarrhea went away - classic signs of allergies, sensitivities, or food intolerances.  These problems cause stress in the body, so actually can cause people to gain weight, too, besides having autoimmune diseases.  I've had problems with all of these.

Grains can cause other problems in the body, but for those eating grains, whole grains are the way to go.

they have a lot going for them.
Quinoa, for example,  has all nine of the amino acids the body cannot make. Barley, I think I am correct here, has little or no, gluten and other grains have a lot less gluten that wheat.
You're right about those being the classic signs of food intolerances. I am intolerant of many types of food but am only truly allergic to red wine and cheese with a fungal rind.
Glad you found out, best wishes.

Sounds like you might be an "O"?

it is pseudoscience.  I can only justify a small part of that diet.

        I'm A+.

        •  It's no more pseudoscience than Mercola's (0+ / 0-)

          "typing".

The guy who wrote the book has studied it and his father before him.

It deals with how your body reacts to foods. Not everyone can eat the same foods. That is true for Mercola's as well as the ERFYBT.

As an O, I'm not supposed to eat chicken, cantaloupe and a few other things. Interesting how those very foods disagree with me, even if they taste good.
