    Private citizens pay approximately 33% of the federal taxes.  Corporations pay about 10%. The rest is borrowed for the most part.

    According to the pie chart in this diary and these are approximations, military spending represents 58% of the discretionary spending, about 30% for social programs (health, transportation, education,etc) and about 12% for overhead (Govt, International, etc)

    Who benefits financially from military spending?  Corporations and businesses.  

    Who benefits financially from social programs?
    American citizens.

    Why shouldn't corporate world be taxed enough to pay for their fair share of the discretionary spending budget?
    Us citizens are paying our way.  

    The corporate share of taxes needs to be increased five-fold to cover what they get in return.
