he'd veto any extension of the tax cuts for the rich.

Like others, I'll  believe it when I see it.

And why the fuck didn't Obama take a (sorta) stand on this from the beginning of the debt ceiling business?  Why now?

But if he fails to call the repubs bluff on this, he will not be reelected.  This is BS.  The repubs are NOT going to risk crashing the global economy, and the stock market, and all the financial institutions, etc., et al.

He must call their bluff!  We cannot give these thugs unlimited opportunities to hijack this country and its government.  I believe there are enough sane repubs who understand what an incredible disaster this would be, and what the impact on their party and their own lives would be.

If history is any guide he will.  One negotiating tactic that the Repubs are using is the "crazy guy."  If the other side  believes you are crazy enough to do the worst, they are more likely to compromise.

will protect them if they screw with the profits and investments of their financial overlords.  They will be toast.  It ain't gonna happen.  Still, that does not mean that Obama won't gave, for no good reason at all; merely to keep that impulse flexed and exercised.

but it may scare Obama enough to cave.  Frankly, I think what's going on now is likely to influence the 2012 election.  Could be a turning point.  Which direction depends on what Obama does with it.

      •  He will not be re-elected (0+ / 0-)

        under any circumstances.

In fact, I do not see a scenario by which Barack Obama will be re-elected.

I certainly won't vote for him under any conditions and I went to high school with several of his highest placed advisors.

Nope, sorry, he is not getting in again.

        He should resign.

        Now.
