The Milwaukee area is quite segregated--more minorities in the city, more whites in the suburbs. Minorities are more likely to be unable to vote because of being on probation or parole. There are at least two ways to reform this situation: stop putting minority people in prison at a higher rate than whites (especially for drug offenses), and change the voting laws to allow parolees to vote as part of their rehabilitation as good citizens. The latter is unlikely to happen soon; the Republican legislature wants to go the opposite direction with photo IDs and an end to same-day registration.

Some countries have obligatory voting; I don't like that.  But I think all these registration problems would be fixed if every adult citizen had to do it when they moved somewhere.

Just add it in to all the other things we have to get changed over, like car registration.

Also, we could give people voting ID's when they register, and require it to vote.
