  •  I currently pay about $8700 for private ins (9+ / 0-)

My current cost for private health insurance is about $8700/year.  The cost to use Medicare would be about half that, with coverage that might be better.  I would gladly pay less to get more, and anyone that wants to rant that such a change would be socialism is not going to bother me much.  My guess is that if such an offer were actually put before the American people, we would vote with our checkbooks almost as one.

I've used that argument on them and they HATE it.
Pointing out that their current, monstrously huge insurance bills (that cover a portion, if that, of any expense actually incurred) would literally disappear overnight makes them distinctly uncomfortable. It forces them to either defend their insurance company or give up.
Actually, no it doesn't. They never give up. But it makes them change the subject, which proves to everyone else within earshot that you just kicked bagger ass.

Sexual orientation is as irrelevent on the battlefield as military rank is in the bedroom.

had Medicare.  Health care should not be based on profit.

Good salaries, yes, but gouging no.

First thing would be to get rid of the health insurance companies that are trying to privatise Medicare now.
