  •  Well done. George Anderson Syndrome... (20+ / 0-)

is exactly the opposite state of health for a country's legal system.

R.I.P. Florence Cioffi -- Wall Street's most infamous killing

This was a killing, January 2008. DUI, going up Water Street at 60 m.p.h., this Mr., Anderson slammed into Ms. Cioffi knocking her 120 feet, then sped up and fled the scene. Mr. Anderson is a Wall Street CEO:

What followed as the charges wended through the system makes one wonder about our form of capitalism... whether it is good, now, for anything but bribery and theft ?

Eventually in a new ADA was chosen. Someone pliable. ADA David Hammer, "(Cioffi) probably stepped out from between two parked cars" - feigning ignorance of the multiple surveillance videos. In fact, eye witness accounts had her trying to hail a cab.

Eventually the charges are dismissed or reduced to misdemeanors. ADA David Hammer pushed through "a rich man's sentence" 16 days and a $350 fine.

So that is the price of a life.

Go to a Rangers hockey game, get drunk, drive recklessly at twice the going speed limit, plow down an ordinary office worker. Render no assistance. The system will take care of you.

These five Thyssen-Krupp managers in Italy faced justice. In America we are dealing with this George Anderson Syndrome.

    Here the rich walk.

Hit and Run: Bob Novak Smashes Pedestrian With Black Corvette

The man flew over the hood and over the windshield of Novak’s black Corvette before rolling off to the street. Novak sped away, but was chased by a lawyer on a bicycle.

[David] Bono said the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a "Walk" signal and was in the crosswalk, rolled off the windshield and then Novak made a right into the service lane of K Street. "The car is speeding away. What’s going through my mind is, you just can’t hit a pedestrian and drive away," Bono said.

Actually you could if you were Robert Novak on K Street.  Chased by a lawyer on a bike, who caught him and held him for DC police, and then... and then... and then...

      •  Plame and Wilson: take his keys away (4+ / 0-)

I'm not really sure why Joe and Valerie Wilson saw the need to chime in on this, but the couple have issued a statement to Think Progress commenting on Robert Novak's hit-and-run accident in Washington yesterday. (Novak says he was unaware that he hit someone. An eyewitness, who pursued the columnist on bicycle for a half-block before blocking his car and calling 911, says the victim was "splayed onto the windshield" before rolling off. If so, that would be kinda hard to miss.)

Say the Wilson's, whose lives were upended when Novak blew Valerie's covert CIA cover in a 2003 column:

Our sympathies go out to the victim of Novak’s action. Once again Novak has demonstrated his callous disregard for the rights of others, as well as his chronic inability to accept responsibility for his actions.

We have long argued that responsible adults should take Novak’s typewriter away. The time has arrived for them to also take away the keys to his Corvette.
