    it's not simply taking work away. Consumer picket crossing is even more appalling since it's almost impossible to think of a situation where there is not an alternative.

      When I was a firefighter/EMT, I once took a patient across a picket line. And if I'd go back, I'd do it again. She was 16 years old and in cardiac arrest and it was the closest hospital. When we explained it to the pair of nurses I had to pass to get to the door, they stepped right out of line and opened the door for us.

      Outside of life-or-death scenarios, though...no. (The other sorts of scenarios I can envision involve e.g. crossing a pharmacy picket line while having an asthma attack, or similar.)
