  •  Yep, and it's been going on ever since (14+ / 0-)

the dfh's of the 60s & 70s stopped the Vietnam War.

It's almost like, someone gave an order to the "news" media back then, and they've faithfully obeyed it ever since.

Sure would like to know who gave that order ...

    •  I go back to Iran Contra (11+ / 0-)

That was the last time I felt that there were actual journalists trying, initially, to get to the bottom of a scandal without being worked by the Karl Rove Lee Atwater Borg.

Ollie North going from scumbag to Movement Conservative manufactured "hero" caught a lot of people off guard, and I think of this as a key victory for the Right in the castrating of the news media.

A lot of the techniques and tactics that were used to turn Ollie North into a rightwing folk hero have been staples of the Right in manipulating and bullying the media into not doing their jobs.

The dawn of the opinions are the same as facts, and facts are the same as opinions, and everyone is equally to blame era.

As far as who gave the orders, I think we have a real problem with the news media being controlled by so few mega-corporations staffed by the same rich pool of rich guys who are very sympathetic to the Koch Brothers school of viewing how the world should work.

Keith Olbermann was the no. 1 guy at MSNBC, a money maker, and he got the ax because of the ideological agenda of the new owners of MSNBC. If you believe in capitalism, and the free market, you don't fire your biggest cash cow at the height of his revenue generating potential unless you are in the bag.

      •  I would rec this a million times if I could. My (2+ / 0-)
