    a century to pay for the the rebuilding of Johnstown after the flood? The state just found a convenient way to continue to make money after reconstruction was paid for.

      But as you pointed out, the state continued to use that funding after the recovery.  I thought progressives liked to have funds in the coffers, as we realize that those funds help get us sidewalks, libraries, street lights, and maybe! eventually even a flood warning system.

      Not saying I don't like booze, just saying that for sidewalks and libraries I'll pay the extra. After all, good Irish whiskey (which I wish I could still afford) has been called the water of life. OTOH, ooh that literacy, and all those poets and writers. Imma stick with the letting the state keep the funds. Once the libraries have either no funding or are somehow privatized, they'll need it.
