    You need to understand that for a public library, patron privacy and intellectual freedom are sacrosanct. They are the core values the library operates on. This behavior is not trivial, anymore than it would be trivial to fire a paralegal who breached the confidentiality of a client, or a priest who told other people about a parishoner's confession. It really is that big of a deal.
