  •  then I guess no one that really ought to hear it (0+ / 0-)

    will.

Is that the idea? Then why are other posters here saying "get ready for the Republican hissy fit!"

    •  You have stopped making sense. (0+ / 0-)

It seems curiosity has killed the cat that had my tongue.

      •  um, OK, really? (0+ / 0-)

The claim that because it was a fundraiser that the vice-president's statement is not talking to everyone - really? seriously?

        •  Biden addressed the audience at a fundraiser... (0+ / 0-)
It's not "everyone" that attends a fundraiser and you don't tend to deliver a "State of the Nation"-style, all-inclusive set of messages at a fundraiser either.

To expect Biden, or any politician in this setting, to use phraseology that attempts to be immune to aggressive misunderstanding is not reasonable.

          •  I get your point... (0+ / 0-)

but I imagine his address will be heard well beyond the fundraiser, don't you? Or, in this day and age of instant propagation via so many information outlets, do you posit that his comments are hermetically sealed within the confines of the room he spoke them in?

            •  I'm certain that Biden has heard of both broadcast (0+ / 0-)

news and the internet and while he surely understands that coverage of the Vice President by media will occur, that doesn't make it reasonable to expect him to tailor his words to please each and every person with access to a computer or a TV set.

That's not his intent and not his job.

I want him to speak effectively, which often will not please everyone. Nor did I suggest he try to please everyone.
