understand that if they are not completely in agreement with the foundation you state for respectful discussion (converted below to imperative voice):

believe transmen when they say they are men and believe transwomen when we say we are women

they should not expect to take part in a discussion here without being challenged (and, so far as I can tell, hide-rated, possible en masse) for being disrespectful.

I just think it's better for everyone if the rules are on the table.  It being in the diary text itself would have been ideal, but it being up here is probably a good enough warning for the unwary.

I think that stipulating to the above foundation makes it hard (or even impossible) to explore the other side of the "deception" issue.  Out of respect, I won't try.

    •  Is there a specific reason (6+ / 0-)

      you expect parameters?

As far as most people think it matters not how anyone identifies. I am a straight white southern male. I also love any human being and respect who they are.

As far as the "deception", I'm pretty sure the diary explained that there is none. The only deception may be your the denial of that fact.

I do appreciate your wanting to respect the diarist's intent for this diary.

Given that there's been so much craziness lately, if you're not sure whether the discussion is welcome in this diary, just start your own.  You could even post a comment in this diary, pointing to yours, and inviting everyone to join you who's interested in your discussion.  I'd certainly join the discussion if I knew about it.
