    The organizers could easily screen the nominations to restrict the final candidates to one per show. Giving the fans control over the entire process opens up the system to abuse.

    You know how this stuff works. People vote for their favorite show or movie. Not necessarily for what is best. The competition between fandoms is simply more fierce than with books.

      Given you have to buy a worldcon membership to vote, it is not like an internet poll.

      How can lots of fans liking something be an abuse of an award that is intended to be a recognition of a work having strong fandom support from the fans dedicated to participate?
