  •  It has always been a GOP house (12+ / 0-)

organ. But I can't think of a time when Time passed up a story on extremists in politics...they were among the first national new media to denounce the John Birch Society as a bunch of nuts (that was in '61, I think.)

And they were pretty tough on George Wallace in 1968. I can't believe that the editors and publishers of time are so ill-informed that they don't know that Bachmann is an extremist in bed with extremists throughout her career.

Nonetheless: comparatively speaking, these are sweetheart pieces they are running on her. I left out the fact that Bachmann seems to be the only GOP presidential contender on that 100 most influential list they compiled. I haven't checked that, but it's printed and noted in a Minnesota MPR news blog tonight.

It may be that Bachmann (nut or not) is acceptable to the Republicans and conservatives at Time--if she's the price of beating Obama.

    •  Yes, understood that (3+ / 0-)

they're writing sweetheart pieces & agreed that they must be aware she's a nut job: not only have you documented it very well here, even others among the MSM have noted it (as your diary makes clear).

I've never worked for Time, and rarely read it (once in a while a friend of mine passes me a copy.  I wish she read The New Yorker, lol).  So I can't guess about their editorial policy.  I can only NOT read them, NOT buy them, and NOT accept any more free copies from friends.  The not-reading part is probably shooting myself in the foot (it's better to know your enemy, right?) but the not-buying part works for me.

Over the past 30-odd years, the Democrats have moved to the right, and the Republicans have moved into a mental hospital. --Bill Maher
