I'd have given a million to one odds against that possibility one month ago. I wouldn't now. This is kind of like Bernie Sanders getting elected President on a last minute surge in write in votes.

After 40 years in Canada, this country never fails to amaze me simetimes.

It may not happen quite that dramatically, but there is a sea change coming. The only risk is that in some ridings the Libs and NDP will be so close that a Conservative could squeak in with something like 37% of the votes. Indeed that is what I suspect may happen in my riding where the Libs held the seat until recently and then the Conservatives got in with the Libs a fairly close second (with a big Green vote too). Now the NDP may surge and the Conservative could stumble in again. For the first time ever I do not know how to vote (what I want most is a Conservative loss, I am less fussy about who wins). I am not alone in this view -- I see hand-made lawn signs that say Anyone but Dean (the name of our local Conservative member).

We have only just begun and none too soon.
