"unfettered" free speech.  I said, and it's a fact, that we have greater free speech rights than other nations.

There is no right to live free from fear and no nation on earth protects such a right.  Rights aren't about feelings.

If you are intimidated by people exercising free speech - tough.  Freedom is dangerous.  Many people would rather have govt. coddle them and protect them from unsavory ideas.  Those people value civility over freedom.  I don't.  And fortunately, the US constitution values freedom and liberty over the "right" to not be offended.

      that's complete rubbish.

If you value the rights of others to spew hatred and intimidate minorities with that hatred, if you value the right of those with the most money to buy elections via their "free speech", if you think that you have more free speech than many other countries ....

      Then you are sadly disillusioned.

It simply isn't true, whatever you think.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

get in your way.  We are about the last nation on earth that doesn't have "hate speech" laws and other such censorious rubbish.

I value the rights of EVERYBODY to spew whatever ideas they want.  It's called freedom.  I can value their RIGHT to do so, even if I am disgusted and fight to the core WHAT they say.

Freedom means you don't need mommy govt. to protect you from mean words.
