  •  The Equal Rights Amendment is NOT about abortion (4.00)
I agree with you. There are many women who are pro-choice, but who say of themselves, "I am not a feminist" and they are focused on the issue of abortion.

But the issue I am focusing on is equal rights for women.

The model for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is the 19th amendment, which gave women the right to vote. The 19th Amendment reads,

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

    The ERA,

Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Many suffragettes supported birth control, but that did not mean the 19th amendment was about birth control or that because many of them believed in birth control, the right to vote should have been curtailed because "those kind of people" would be empowered.
