...could it be that Apple is just trying to protect its intellectual property.

    •  avid Mac user here; I agree with this (none)
sorry Jane, I don't buy your framing.
This isn't about blogs at all... it's about Apple protecting its IP.

There may be some who think Apple has no right to do that, and there may be some who think Jobs is a control freak and should just get over himself.

But the real issue is about how companies protect their property, not about bloggers.

      •  This is one problem (none)
that liberals have and some part of the reason people don't take us seriously.

but people have NO problem taking the right seriously even though their views are often represented by right wing wackos like ann coulter.

sorry, but i hardly called for apple's head in a basket. merely i'm presenting a news story, in which several blogs are being sued for something that was written on their sites. how you view that as so far out that it makes liberals seem crazy is beyond me.

      •  what property? (none)
again, the bloggers didn't post blueprints, from what i understand, they posted information on future launches. this is something that journalists do all the time.

        •  apple has gone after EVERYONE (none)
for as long as I can remember, they've held very tightly to any information about their products before the official launch.  They've gone after websites long before the existence of blogs.

You can certainly argue that a release of information a few days early won't hurt their product, and you can certainly argue that they are control freaks and want to determine "message" for themselves (kind of like the Bush administration!)

but you can't argue that they are targetting bloggers specifically and uniquely

          •  have they sued (none)
websites in the past for the same thing? and won?

            •  not sure about suing (none)
but certainly their threats caused one guy who always had advance notice of new products to close his site... when this particular senior moment passes, I'll remember the name
