  •  No, you made yourself clear (5+ / 0-)

And congrats for the debunking work you do, but your personal investment is skewing your perception of the diary. It may "gall" you to see Bronstein praising her without my providing context, but her hackitude and philosophical outlook are irrelevant to the point of the diary and so I see no reason for me to weigh in on the talent-philosophy of the journalists.

Maybe not entirely irrelevant: as someone upthread points out, given Marinucci's outlook, banning her may actually be worse strategically cause it makes it look as if they're banning an opponent.

    •  I didn't say you should provide context (4+ / 0-)

for all I know you've never read the SF Chronicle except an online link here and there and have never heard of Carla Marinucci or Phil Bronstein before. I doubt most Daily Kos readers have, no matter how well informed politically they are. Probably the majority of SF Chronicle readers couldn't tell you who they were either -- newspaper readers, especially print readers, do not notice bylines, that's a fact. Of course it doesn't mean you shouldn't have posted your diary.  But, the fact is, I disagree with the quote calling Marinucci "one of the best political reporters in the country" and there are many critics of the SF Chronicle from the left who would also disagree.  Comments provide context, that's a good thing.

        I disagree with it too.

For the record, I don't think a single person here would assume that the Chronicle reporters would line up SF's population.  MSM: we get it. It's like Bill Keller calling one of his stable of reporters "one of the finest..." It's just what editors would say. People here aren't inclined to takes that at face value, especially people inclined to read this diary.

reverse their decision and apologize just because the Chronicle and this reporter are conservatives.  That would seem to be their MO.
