rattling off a laundry list I tend to think they're less informed about the issues than they are simply going on a prepackaged rant that has more to do with their own emotions than reality. Perhaps this is true, or perhaps it is not, but that is the impression that is given.

There's an element of storytelling to protest.* If you want to change someone's mind, you have to engage their mind. If you want to engage their mind you have to deliver your information with clarity. To do that you need to have some clarity and focus regarding your own thoughts. Merely creating a huge swirl of semi-articulated frustration doesn't do any of that. Even brilliantly articulated frustration gets lost in a huge swirl.

(*This is not to say that the "storytelling" needs to be fictional. It merely needs to be compelling and clear.)

Guerilla theatre is the most effective kind of protest I've seen...

If you can get people laughing, or even crying, over an issue, with poignant satire, they are going to remember, and internalize the message...more.

Far more effective than mere collective angst, anger, or rebellion, which as the comment suggests, too often comes off as little more than that, in terms of what striking images one remembers and absorbs from the spectacle, rather than whatever the intended issue may be.

Billionaires for Bush are good at this...they have infiltrated Tea Bagger events, where they initially get enthusiastic "support", heh...effectively delivering bemused jolts to the public consciousness, when people finally get it, lol.

      Billionaires for Bush

Seizing on the popularity of the Avitar movie, to protest environmental destruction, and also justice for Palestine, even...some people did this:

Oh, and did I mention?  Unless the action is ultimately really all about mobilizing the electorate, to vote for the Democrats, to seize the power, and crush the Republicans for stubbornly blocking resolution of Whatever the Issue may be, then we're just blowing it out our collective ass.

Democracy is the most fundamental revolutionary principle. Information is the ultimate key.
