  •  I'm mostly just keeping my head down (10+ / 0-)

while the breeder world celebrates their blood festival.

As a transwoman who grew up under their fists, their mass ecstasy at a death is neither surprising nor something I can grok emotionally -- merely one more reason to stay out of the way of a pack instinct.

This has nothing to do with deep sympathy for bin Laden, merely with deep antipathy for and fear of the mass craving for violent "solutions". I know that, in ordinary times, when there is no officially designated target for that violence, I am the default target.

I suppose I shall be HR'd for this, but if others can share their feelings at this time, why shouldn't I?

    •  As a black buddy of (8+ / 0-)

mine said in response to the ugly Sunday night celebrations: "given the tint of my skin I get ambit nervous whenever I see a bunch of white folks celebrating the death of a brown person."

    •  It's not only breeders (6+ / 0-)

and it isn't all blood lust. But there is definitely some. And it makes me sadder.

Looks like our military is doing just fine even as Don't Ask, Don't Tell is being dismantled.

      •  It's more finely tuned now. (0+ / 0-)

These days, you just have to rub out one person to get the effect...  ;-P

The '60s were simply an attempt to get the 21st Century started early....Well, what are we waiting for? There's no deadline on a dream!

      •  Bad argument (0+ / 0-)

My parents are even farther gone into homophobia than most breeders. I have had no contact with them for years.

They would be absolutely delighted to learn that I was dead. For that reason, I never list them as contact information.

You are attempting to shame someone who has been "othered" her entire life into speaking inclusively about the very people who first othered her. It was not my decision, as a child, that I could not belong to their world: it was theirs.

The condition for their acceptance was for my soul to die and some other soul to replace it. I chose to keep my soul, and as a result I never belonged to any "family". They never "came around" or "got over it".

        •  OK, then. (0+ / 0-)

Would you call all parents "breeders"?  How would you prefer we came into the world?
