    Met a girlfriend for lunch and decided to swing by. Cranes of construction visible over my head. Tourists with their cameras, one French couple graciously snapped this.

    Looks like our military is doing just fine even as Don't Ask, Don't Tell is being dismantled.

      Just one thing about those towers, which rarely seemed to figure into my sense of the city, except from one vantage point.

      My very favorite view was from the Staten Island ferry, coming back to Manhattan at night ... approaching the island's southern tip, they had a stunning, incredible presence - like powerful dual sentries, standing silent watch, glowing and beautiful, heads above the flowing mountain range of tall sparkling buildings, which is in itself impressive. But the towers were somehow a part and apart - two magnificent markers that held the key and the gaze.  

      And then, they just weren't.

       

      Should a "progressive" Dem blog dwell in the safe zones of a lame party, or should it drive a lame party to break out? If it cant, should it break out?
