    Some of the continuity between the Bush years and Obama years was needed and important. But let’s put to rest the myth (and correct the mythmakers actively trying to elevate Bush) that torture helped the United States. It didn’t and is a blot on our recent history.

    Marcy's well documented timeline refutes everything you are implying. (She's also the author of Anatomy of Deceit as is quite experienced with timelines.)A nd interestingly, the guy who agrees with Marcy is Don Rumsfeld (see politico reference), who said waterboarding was not responsible for the data gathered.

    There's no question that there's a big push from the Bushies to justify their actions. That doesn't mean every single thing they did was wrong (for example, Bush led on PEPFAR/AIDS treatment overseas and on immigration policy, both lefty positions compared to today's GOP.) But they did an awful lot wrong (such as starting a war in iraq, letting Osama get away at Tora Bora, waterboarding) ....
