  •  We could recall Ziegler and Gableman right now... (13+ / 0-)

We need to strike while the iron's hot.  We can only elect 1 supreme court justice a year, but we can lay the foundation for WHO to put on the chopping block in 2012 right now.  Both of these justices are scummy and worthy of recall.  We could try for one at a time.  It's a statewide race so we'd be able to keep our momentum and maintain it for the 6 months until we can start collecting signatures for Walker and Kleefisch.  We'd also be continuing the networking it'll take to recall Walker as we collect the 375,000 or so signatures to recall each of them.

    •  An interesting thought (7+ / 0-)

but Supreme Court justices can't be recalled - only impeached.  I, for sure thought Gablemann would have been removed from his seat due to his unethical campaigning.  Instead, he was only reprimanded.

I don't like the wingnut majority on our State Supreme Court.  It was the reason everyone worked so hard to defeat Prosser.  Who knows?  Maybe there will be a miracle in the recount.

      •  Do your statehouse Dems understand... (5+ / 0-)

...the extreme danger posed by the radicals who have taken over the Republican leadership?  The fact that they simply do not give a damn about the law, or about justice, but only about what will give their buddies more power?

If you get enough people in the legislature who understand this, you COULD impeach the oathbreakers on the Supreme Court.  But it won't be possible unless your elected Democrats are at least as aware of what's going on as st. croix cheesehead is.

I always try to get people to read the pages linked in my sig.  I hope maybe it'll get them thinking along the right lines...

Read pp. 1-7 of Krugman's _The Great Unraveling_ (available from Google Books). NOW.

but we're trying to take control of the State Senate now.  Only when we've done that in large enough numbers would an impeachment proceeding become possible.  For now we can only sit and watch for a truly impeachable offense from one of them.

      •  Puddytat, please check out the following (3+ / 0-)

        section of WI Statute 9.10 (1) (a)

"The qualified electors of the state, of any county, city, village, or town, of any congressional, legislative, judicial, town sanitary, or school district, or of any prosecutorial unit may petition for the recall of any incumbent elective official by filing a petition with the same official or agency with whom nomination papers or declarations of candidacy for the office are filed demanding the recall of the officeholder."

Anyone that is elected can be recalled (with the exception of the congressional as the Feds will have none of that).  So it appears that WI Supreme Court justices can be recalled...  It would require the same amount of signatures as the governor.

Prosser now.  Even if he is selected; people will never believe he got there on his own with a legal election process.  We know we can't prove much any more so recall may be come our most powerful weapon.

        •  Hmmm (0+ / 0-)

The powers that be tell me that Supreme Court Justices can't be recalled.  I might just run that one up the flag and see how it flies.  Thanks for the reference.
