    have mostly minority students, because the lottery process is weighted to kids in the neighborhood. For kids who don't get in, they're stuck with the "regular" district schools, which are of widely varying quality.

      The charter schools take state money and siphon minority children away from public schools.

      But after years of gathering evidence, it has been discovered that student performance in charter schools is no better than in public schools.  None, nada, zip.

      Its just an opportunity to hire unqualified teachers at barely above minimum wage in rundown old buildings while GOP donors running them skim off huge profits.  Campaign money laundering.

      In the end, it costs taxpayers more money and provides inferior education, no better than in public schools.
