    and this is the first time, it's received any traction.

    btw, if you press them, our military advisors will admit to you that the troops in South Korea, are there as a nuclear trigger not a figfhting force, as our war scenarios, and analysis indicate they will be killed in the first round of conventional artillery shelling.  

    And, our supply lines are too long.

    We are making a symbollic statement to the North Koreans, that if they launch even a conventional attack, and kill so many Americans, they can expect nuclear retaliation.

    My point isn't to quibble with the whole premise, which someone more specialized in this area might want to consider, but to say, we can make this symbollic gesture, with fewer troops, and less expense.

    Would our headroom for outrage be less if it were only a few hundred troops, and/or citizens that were killed, in the first round of attacks?
