is a sycophant for Bowen and a longstanding Winograd antagonist (and now, perhaps, a defender of the indefensible Brigham?).   I disclosed my relationship to Marcy in the first comment I made on this thread, and in this thread have carefully avoided connecting Brigham as an official Bowen spokesperson -- and in fact have disavowed any such assertion.   Brigham has been very busy tweeting his moronic trash about Marcy and Hahn since the campaign began, and hence calls for a response.  Part of the very point I've tried to make (and have made here) is that the candidate cannot be blamed for the behavior of supporters.  I have seen a fair amount of that blame unfairly aimed at Marcy.

Buddy, when you ask of Bob, "Are you the verbal/blogospheric Lee Atwater for the Bowen machine?", and then say "Don't know if he has any official connection.", it's obvious what you're doing.

You and Marcy have been going after Bowen tooth and claw ever since she announced. Rarely do I hear either of you talk about Hahn, who's intimated she would be Harman's hand-picked successor. Some of Marcy's closest supporters on the campaign have even intimated that she'll endorse Hahn over Bowen in the general election.

Look, I supported Harman over your wife the last two times she ran, but I would never support Hahn, who's being backed in this race by the health insurance lobby, the nuclear industry, and even rent control opponents.

Not sure what the two of you hope to get out of all this, but it's a very strange game you're playing indeed.

      •  Yes, I asked Name-calling Bob (0+ / 0-)

a valid question, because he has been carrying Bowen's water, repeatedly and indeed, with reckless disregard for the truth, calling Marcy and Hahn unkind names, all of which is really helpful toward building Democratic unity.  The truth is, Marcy has challenged both Hahn and Bowen (and I believe you have attended events where she did so), including tweeting that Hahn's peace plan is a war plan (and reiterating that statement at the Venice Neighborhood Council which you attended) and entered the race because of her serious concerns about foreign and domestic policy.

I also note that you offer not a word of criticism of Mr. Brigham, his immaturity and disgraceful gutter-level tactics notwithstanding.  Did he summon you to come to his defense?

You, msblucow, were particularly vicious and untruthful in your attacks on Marcy during your campaigns for Harman.  You have continued to take shots at Marcy in this campaign with factual misrepresentations, right out of the gate with her entry announcement.  You regularly draw absurd conclusions from flimsy evidence, and to your credit, even occasionally admit it.  Perhaps I'm missing something, but the link you used to support your claim about an endorsement is not only premature, but totally spurious -- the only person on that Calitics thread who mentions a possible endorsement is you (Marta Evry).

I also seem to recall that you dithered at the beginning of this race about who to support, telling Janice Hahn you'd be happy if she won:

In reality, however, I've found myself struggling ever since Jane Harman announced her resignation on February 7th. The next day, I received a call from Janice Hahn, asking me to endorse her. We had a very pleasant conversation, but in the end I told her I needed to wait to see who else would get in the race (Debra Bowen wouldn't announce for another week).

Before we hung up, I told her I'd be happy if either she or Bowen ended up replacing Harman in Congress.

At the time, I meant it. But over the last few weeks, as I've researched and written about both candidates, I no longer feel that way.

There are no games, msblucow, and no conspiracies.  At least not in Marcy's campaign.

It was pretty clear after doing my homework, Janice Hahn wasn't the candidate for me. Just as doing my homework about you and your wife lead me to the conclusion that Marcy wasn't the right person to represent our district either.

The good news is the primary will be over soon and we can focus on the general. I think by then voters will see they have a clear choice, between a transformation leader like Bowen and the preferred candidate of big oil, LA City Hall lobbyists and PACs, Janice Hahn.

as does my spouse, who of course, has spent many an hour poring over her own and her students'.

I detest calculated and vitriolic misrepresentations.

            See you in the general.
