      It was an interesting coalition - a couple genuinely well-meaning Republicans who thought they were helping, and a couple who never ever voted for anything that helps families/disability issues, who were the drivers.

        Was the Kansas thing the "Special Needs Scholarship" version or the "Autism Scholarship" version?  ('cause I know ALEC has one out there that's specific to autism too.)

        The autism organizations in Wisconsin have not taken a vocal position on this one so far.  It caught us by surprise, I'm afraid.  The disability coalitions are doing good work -- there was a fine article in the Capital Times yesterday -- but the number of issues to track and bills to oppose is overwhelming.

          In Kansas its pretty simple - giving a school voucher to a person who lives 30 miles from the nearest town isn't really helping them.

          So the rural KS people were against it.
