this is an unseasonably early endorsement, right?  nobody would have noticed its absence at this point in time.

if the goal is to communicate displeasure, they can do that twenty ways to sunday having nothing at all to do with an endorsement.

and seriously...what are they going to do?  endorse the republican sap who gets stuck with their nomination?  again, not in this universe.

The NEA could throw more political money at down-ticket races towards more friendly politicians.

Or, oppose the inevitable bat-shit crazy state propositions we know Republicans will be endorsing in 2012.

Or just get out of politics and spend money actually organizing workers as workers, not political busy-bees.

to avoid an endorsement while phrasing it in terms of "making sure of a solid Democratic congress to help the President needs to be our highest priority."

Needs to be done, right?  Inarguable, right?

Problem with NEA and its affiliates getting out of politics is that there's a definite need to put up a fight against those on the Right who want to politicize education.  Sorry, but now that Wall Street's figured out that there's big potential bucks in education, that little gremlin isn't getting stuck back in the box.  It has to be countered.
