I just wrote a lengthy, thoughtful (imho) response to you addressing the evolutionary and societal beginnings of greed and religion and somehow hit the wrong button during preview mode and lost it all, even the page shifted to something else. I don't have time to reconstruct it, so I have a sad :-(

In fact, since religions have so effectively wiped out great pieces of history, the remaining available evidence indicates the contrary.

Greed and corruption do seem to be part of the nature of a minority people, but it wasn't until the advent of widespread religious indoctrination that these traits were rewarded.

The human mind is a wonderful and terrible organ in that it can, with relative ease, be molded or warped into working in virtually any way desired. Left to a natural course, it tends toward rational consideration of the world in which it lives.

It is religion that sets up the unformed mind to simply accept two unalterably opposed ideas as "normal".
