    Getting only half the low-income kids up to "proficient" in math is hard to call a "win" for the public schools.

    But the voucher schools can't do even that... I figure it's more an indication of how wretchedly the voucher schools LOSE.

    One way or another, though, the expansion in Milwaukee county & the lifting of enrollment caps there is practically a done deal (I'm not so sure about the status of income caps, but those may well disappear too).  Which will continue to starve the public schools, to the benefit of the corporatists & religionists who have been salivating over this prospect for years.

    I applaud the teachers in Milwaukee too.  Bless their hearts, they've got to be dedicated souls to keep at it day after day with such challenges stacked against them.  Oh, and there's yet ANOTHER bill that goes to hearing Monday, that will change the rules about how public school teachers are evaluated, so as to make TEST SCORES much more important in that process.  The irony is simply astonishing.
