  •  I had sex ed in 5th grade in Tennessee... (9+ / 0-)

The teacher showed us some black and white film with teens with brill cream and poodle skirts (this was the mid-80s). At the end of the movie, we were allowed to ask questions. "What's a rubber?" "What is gay?" After the question, the teacher would consult some book and say "ask your parents."

Hahahaha. Super helpful. Thanks to the morality police in Tennessee, I had to get my information from my questions answered by my idiot friends and reruns of the Emmanuel series on Cinemax. After that, lesbianism seemed like the greatest thing ever invented.

Please, no donuts...just ruminating on a particular episode from the Reagan era...

    •  Me too, but in another state (0+ / 0-)

We had our first school-based sex-education class in 5th grade, and our class of students was supposedly one of the best groups that went through our school system (according to various teachers, et al). We didn't seem to suffer too much from it. Of course, this was also in the northeast part of the country, so things were much more liberal there.

Have you asked your congress-people to support legislation that combats bullying?
