Nobody has ever complained that Roseanne menaced them. She is a hyperbolic figure at times. She doesn't claim to be a blue blood, and therein lies her appeal. I can't believe all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the comments section here.

Her show was always issues oriented. I like the fact she is successful and isn't some emaciated artificial ideal woman.

    •  I really liked the middle years of the show (0+ / 0-)

Mind you one of the first episodes shows her eating a jelly filled donut and attached symbolism to that...

"and that's the crap he got from his mother....

      Funny.  And relatable.

The dead vacuum cleaner salesman, DJ "playing the flute",
and the "finger " episodes were the best.

That being said, she's not a goddess, a politician, or a role model.

But she is a feminist, like it or not.

too sensitive for violent women or other women who get where they're coming from (I don't know SetaSan's gender; and ipso, regardless of gender, at least isn't so "well I never" about it all; but the rest).  When will those who inevitably trot out the "if it was a white man threatening a women" canard ever realize that the whole point is that it wasn't?  We're rooting for the underdog here, guys.

Roseanne's no goddess and no perfectly admirable woman either, but she knows from systematic feminist and class issues.  It's nice to hear her voice on this.
